Tottenham beating Arsenal in this £43m race would make them absolutely prolific

Why Ziyech’s arrival could make Tottenham a force to reckon with

According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato (h/t Football.London), Ajax have confirmed that playmaker Hakim Ziyech can leave the club this month. The Eredivisie champions, however, have also notified that it would only be possible if any suitors can match their asking price of £43million.

That said, Tottenham, who have been repeatedly linked with the star winger earlier, have now entered the race to land the in-form winger.

Ziyech, meanwhile, has continued his sensational form from the last season, where he helped his side reach the Champions League semi-finals, eventually losing to Tottenham.

Despite his side’s loss in the last-four stage, the playmaker was on target for the Dutch side in a tournament which proved to be a rather fruitful one for him as an individual.

He scored 3 goals and provided as many assists from a total of 6 matches in the elite European competition, attracting the attention of several clubs including Arsenal, the report claims.

Ziyech’s performances were not restricted to the European stage alone as they were equally matched by his impressive displays in the domestic arena. He won the club’s Player of the Year award last season, after netting 21 goals and 24 assists in 49 games.

His scintillating displays in front of goal made him a crucial player under coach Erik ten Hag as they went on to win both the Eredivisie title and the KNVB Cup respectively last season.

Ziyech seems to be in no mood to stop as he has already stood out as the standalone performer for his side this season, with 6 goals and a whopping 13 assists from 17 league games, putting Ajax on top of the Dutch top-division.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham have overcome an initial slump early in the season to reach 6th place in the Premier League as they look to close down the six-point gap to keep their hopes of Champions League berth still alive.

However, persistent injuries to right-winger Erik Lamela and Tottenham’s inability to capture any new signings in the summer under former boss Mauricio Pochettino have forced them into what they’re going through now.

Now with the Ziyech situation out in the open, Mourinho has a great chance to increase his side’s chances of pushing into the top-four.

Moreover, with playmaker Christian Eriksen looking increasingly unsettled at the club, Tottenham now need a world-class attacker in their ranks in order to stay on top in the future.

Blessed with excellent technical skills, Ziyech has almost every quality that a coach desires and could be an invaluable asset to the Spurs side if a deal works out.

An excellent dribbler of the ball, Ziyech also possesses a keen eye for the goal and a dangerous left foot that makes him one of the world’s most potent attackers at the moment.

With the kind of abilities that Ziyech has, he would be an outstanding signing for any top club, never mind Tottenham.

Tottenham have a great opportunity at the moment and Ziyech’s arrival could make them a force to reckon with. Having already proven his credentials, there is no denying Ziyech’s talent and he would indeed be a good signing for Tottenham.
