Why Wolves signing Vinicius Junior would be an outstanding move

According to El Desmarque (h/t Daily Star), Wolves are keen on Real Madrid teenage sensation Vinicius Junior ahead of the January transfer window.

Vinicius, 19, rose to fame in his time at Flamengo and was one of Europe’s hottest properties before moving to Real Madrid in the summer of 2018. Though he made his debut for the Los Blancos last season, he was initially registered as a Castilla player.

His impressive performances also earned him a call up to Brazil’s national squad and he made his international debut coming on from the bench in a 0-1 loss to Peru. He took the footballing world by storm when he made the choice to join Madrid at the age of 18.

Though he performed well in the beginning, he has found it difficult to make it to the starting XI this term due to the presence of big names in the squad. But still, he has made 10 appearances in the league so far and has registered one goal and assist each.

Meanwhile, Wolves are enjoying a successful run under Nuno Espirito Santo, who has transformed the mid-table club into a title-chaser team. The team is well-knit and they are performing well on all cylinders.

In spite of that, the report suggests that Nuno Santo could make moves to boost his squad going into the tougher period.

The Molineux faithful have witnessed some breath-taking displays in the past two years and especially with their attackers coming to the fore at the right time.

Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota have led the team in the right direction and this season Adama Traore’s presence has given them an upper hand over several teams.

Whereas summer signings Pedro Neto and Patrick Cutrone have extended their help in demanding situations.

With the help of the brilliance in midfield, the forwards have produced some outstanding results. While they are within the reach of the top four in England, Wolves have set their sights in the Europe League by progressing to the next round.

However, there might be one area of concern for the manager. They have only three players to play on either wing in Traore, Jota and Jordan Graham. They might find it tougher as the season gets going and any causalities would hamper their progress without help from the wingers.

In that case, to add depth and quality to their squad Vinicius Junior would be a valuable acquisition. Though he hasn’t established himself as one of the bests, he has been doing well whenever he is required. And he can bring that form into the Wolves’ side.

The Brazilian has got pace and some exciting dribbling skills, which sets him apart from players of his age. And alongside Traore, Jimenez, and Jota, he would get a chance to improve himself and with regular game time, his qualities could improve.

Verdict

With a player of Vinicius’ calibre, Wolves cannot afford the chance to miss out on him and they must take advantage of his situation at Santiago Bernabeu and lure him to England.

Under the Portuguese, who is known for grooming youngsters into future prospects, Vinicius can sharpen his skills and help the team scale great heights.
