According to reports in the Sun, Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers are the latest club to show interest in Aberdeen star Scott McKenna. The Scottish centre-back has been a subject of bids from clubs as well, including Celtic and Aston Villa, whose bids were rejected by Aberdeen. (Sun)
As per the report, Wolves’ scouts were watching the Dons’ 1-0 win over Motherwell in the Scottish League. They wanted to have a closer look at how the 21-year-old was performing. (Sun)
McKenna has been impressive since his return from the hamstring injury which he suffered on the opening day against Rangers.
Even Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes knows that his prized asset will be moving on from the club in the near future, as he admitted that the club is preparing for his departure. (Sun)
Wolves, under the management Nuno Espirito Santo, have taken giant strides in terms of progressing in English football. They got promoted to the Premier League this summer and are now playing a brand of football which is attractive and solid.
In a newly-promoted team, the first thing people judge is the defence. The Old Gold have done really well in that department, conceding only six goals in the first seven league appearances in the top-flight. It is impressive bearing in mind that they have faced Manchester United and Manchester City in this period.
However, the right mindset of the manager would be to further improve his defence and not rest on the laurels. Getting McKenna would add more steel and security to the back-line which already looks solid. Hence, it would be a case of icing on an already well-baked cake.
Given the way Wolves play in a 3-4-2-1 formation, McKenna can slot in at various positions across the back-line. The 21-year-old can play as a central defender but he isn’t alien to playing at left-back either. Therefore, Nuno would have a variety of options if he buys the Scot. The Portuguese manager can use him according to the requirements of the team.

Hence, it would be fantastic for the Old Gold to go after the Aberdeen man and get him before any other potential suitor comes calling.
