Why Wolves should send Jordan Graham out on loan
Jordan Graham returned to Wolverhampton Wanderers from a season-long long deal with Oxford United at the beginning of the season. However, he has already joined Bulgarian outfit Lokomotiv Plovdiv on loan (h/t Birmingham Mail).
Wolves signed Graham on a permanent deal in 2015 from Aston Villa after the 24-year-old completed that campaign on loan at the club, despite featuring in none games.
Graham made 14 appearances in 2015 before Wolves decided to loan him out to Oxford United in January 2016. After completing the loan deal, Graham further completed three different loan deals in as many seasons.
The current situation at Wolves suggests that a loan deal is ideal for both the club and the player, as coach Nuno has a surplus of strikers in his squad.
Wolves coach Nuno brought in Patrick Cutrone on a permanent deal from AC Milan at the beginning of the season.
Cutrone came off an impressive two-year spell with the Italian giants, scoring 13 times in the 63 appearances he made in that period. Even though he has made just two Premier League starts this season, he has already scored a goal.
In addition to the U21 Italian, Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota already showed their potential in the Premier League last season. Wolves signed Jimenez on a permanent deal from Benfica as club’s record signing after the Mexcian forward help the promoted side seal a Europa League qualification berth.
Jimenez featured in all the league games last season, scoring 13 goals and providing another seven assists in the process.
Jota is another proven striker under Nuno and helped the Wolves gain promotion to the Premier League in the 2017-18 campaign. He scored 17 goals in 44 Championship appearances that season while on loan from Porto.
He was rewarded with a permanent deal and the Portuguese international has continued his form in the English top-flight.
Jota scored nine goals and assisted another five in the 33 league appearances last season. Even though he is struggling with a minor injury this season, he has found the back of the net once.
Jimenez, Jota and Cutrone will be the strikers that coach Nuno turns to in the hour of need and it is better for Graham to spend the remaining half of the season on loan. At least that way, he will have an opportunity to prove himself and force his way into the Wolves’ squad next season.
