Wolves

A marvellous investment – Wolves’ blunt attack would get a sharper edge by signing this England U17 World Cup winner

Why Wolves should go all out for Danny Loader in January

According to a report from the Birmingham Mail, Reading forward Danny Loader was all set to sign for Wolves in August before the move fell through.

Danny Loader, 19, impressed last season, making 22 appearances for the Royals and scoring the club’s goal of the season with a super strike against Middlesbrough in April. Reading are keen on extending his deal at the club, but the Berkshire club will now face a battle to persuade him to remain on at the Madejski Stadium amid heavy interest.

The 19-year-old has less than 12 months left on his contract and, this time next year, the England youth star will be available for absolutely nothing. Should the teenage forward continue to go from strength to strength at Reading, there’s nothing to stop Wolves from snapping up him in the summer of 2020 without spending a penny.

However, Wolves must not wait until next summer and eye a cut-price deal in January for Loader, who is deemed as a key part of Reading’s future going forward.

Wolves are looking to establish themselves as top-half Premier League club and have already shown their inclination towards investing on top talents from across Europe. They have shown a lot of ambition since getting promoted, with the club backing Nuno Espirito Santo fully in the transfer market.

In Ruben Neves, Ruben Vinagre, Pedro Neto and Patrick Cutrone among some more, the Wanderers have a plethora of exciting young talents and a manager that has always promoted youth. So, a move for Loader certainly makes sense for Wolves.

At this point, Loader has not signed a new contract and his current deal is set to expire this summer, which means Wolves could likely get a great deal for the teenager in the mid-season trading period. The 19-year-old hasn’t played much for Reading this season but he looks like a player with high potential and the Molineux could be an excellent place for him to develop.

The lure of Wolves, the Premier League and the Europa League is too strong to turn down, especially for players from lower divisions. Loader’s first campaign in senior football has shown he has the quality, maturity and eye for goal needed to make the step up to the Premier League.

Verdict

Loader, an England U17 World Cup winner, seemingly has a huge future ahead of him and Wolves must aim to thrash out a deal when the winter transfer market starts.
