Why West Ham over Arsenal would be the ideal destination for M’baye Niang

West Ham look like a side ready to compete for the Premier League title next season. New manager Manuel Pellegrini is putting together a battalion of sorts.

The former Manchester City manager has brought in a flurry of high-profile signings to the club to bolster the squad ahead of their new season. The Chilean has brought in the likes of Ryan Fredericks, Jack Wilshere, Felipe Anderson, Lukasz Fabianski and Andriy Yarmolenko.

The Hammers endured a lacklustre season last time out and Pellegrini will be aiming to make a strong start to the season this time. The manager is very much experienced in the Premier League, winning the title with Manchester City.

With just less than two weeks left for the transfer window to close, Pellegrini is not yet done with his business. The club have been linked with Torino striker M’Baye Niang over the last few days. Pellegrini is reportedly interested in signing the Senegal international who enjoyed a splendid World Cup in Russia. Arsenal are also said to be interested in his services.

Niang made the move to Torino permanent this year after enjoying an impressive loan spell with the Serie A outfit last season.

He joined AC Milan in 2012 and was loaned out to different clubs after just two seasons at the San Siro. The striker enjoyed good spells with Watford and Torino over the last two seasons. He scored 2 goals in 16 appearances for the Hornets.

The former AC Milan man made a total of 26 appearances in the Serie A last season, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist. Niang is a dynamic forward with a lot of good qualities. He’s tall, strong and agile on the ball. The striker’s direct runs often pose a huge threat to the opposition defenders.

Niang was also impressive for his country at the World Cup. The striker put together a string of impressive performances as the Super Eagles won plenty of hearts in Russia. He made a total of 3 appearances for Senegal, scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist.

Niang was a menace in the box and his pest-like presence in the box made it very hard for the opposition. The 23-year-old averaged 2.7 shots per game in Russia. He was a constant threat going forward. The Torino man is also very strong in the air, often posing a huge aerial threat from set-pieces.

He possesses all the qualities to become a major part of this new-look Hammers side. He would bring considerable strength and depth to the squad.

Niang has had a taste of the Premier League with the Hornets, which will be an added bonus for Pellegrini.
