According to the Independent, Crystal Palace are one of the clubs interested in signing Stoke City forward Tyrese Campbell.
The England under-20 star has scored 4 goals in 19 senior team appearances this campaign for Stoke City. Last season, he spent time on loan at Shrewsbury Town and bagged 5 goals in 15 games.
However, Tyrese Campbell is out of contract in the summer and that has also ignited interest from Wolves, Celtic and Rangers, the report adds.
Crystal Palace, meanwhile, have once again struggled for goals. They do have exciting wingers in Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend in their ranks but lack a high-quality No.9 to put away the chances created by them.
They are the second-lowest scorers in the Premier League, with just 19 goals in 21 matches this season.
Jordan Ayew has done very well as a lone man up front this season, bagging 5 goals in 20 appearances. Considering Palace play a counter-attacking style of football where chances come at a premium, Ayew deserves credit for leading the attack.
However, the Ghanaian needs more support and competition, which has not been provided by Christian Benteke, who is yet to open his account this season.
The Eagles need a striker to freshen up things a bit in the forward department and someone in the ilk of Tyrese Campbell would fit the bill perfectly at Selhurst Park.
Campbell, 20, has scored three goals in his last three appearances for Stoke, as a recent upturn in form under Michael O’Neill has pulled the club out of the relegation zone.
The young Englishman looks confident in front of goal now and is showing exactly what he can produce if given chances on a regular basis.
The England Under-20 international is a young, promising and a dynamic talent who fits the age profile of players that Palace should be looking to sign.
Campbell is just 20 years old, brimming with confidence following his current form in Stoke colours. There’s clear potential in the kid and with proper guidance and regular opportunities, the English forward could be a future star.
Hence, Hodgson must do everything in his powers to win the race for the young striker’s signature this month.
