Tottenham’s attack would get a whole new dimension with the addition of this German star and Pochettino must get him

Tottenham Opinion: Will Karim Bellarabi be a good fit for Spurs?

From having an outside chance of winning the Premier League to now jostling for a top-four finish, Tottenham Hotspur have endured a very tough couple of weeks.

After losing 2-1 at Burnley, Chelsea ruled Tottenham out of the title race by beating them 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. A point in the North London derby against Arsenal was good but it has left Mauricio Pochettino’s side eight points away from Liverpool with 9 games to go.

With Tottenham now gunning to finish inside the top four and book a place in the Champions League next season, Pochettino should start planning for the new season.

It’s important for Spurs to spend heavily in the summer transfer window and show the ambition to challenge for silverware after firing blanks in the past two windows. Pochettino should prioritise signing a replacement for Mousa Dembele ahead of the next campaign.

Other than that, the Argentine must also splash the cash on another attacker. Spurs have an exciting bunch of attackers but there is a need for more pace and dynamism in the final third if Pochettino intends to go all out for the title.

To put things into perspective, Tottenham should make a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Karim Bellarabi when the transfer window reopens.

Karim Bellarabi, 28, had a very difficult start to the season and was sent off in the defeat to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on matchday 2. A horrifying challenge on Rafinha saw him get banned for four games but since returning from the ban, the 28-year-old has been in fantastic form.

The German international is certainly enjoying himself right now in the Bundesliga and is proving that he can still deliver on the big stage. Not only has Bellarabi looked assured on the ball but he has also improved his decision-making in the attacking third.

He is pacey, athletic, dynamic and his ability to play through the middle could help reduce the burden on Harry Kane’s shoulders.

The former Eintracht Braunschweig ace can torment defences single-handedly on his day and while his end product is frustrating at times, Bellarabi has the tools to thrive in the Premier League.

Conclusion

To put it straight, Spurs need more quality and depth in their squad to challenge for the Premier League crown next season.

For that reason, the enigmatic Bellarabi would certainly be a brilliant fit for Pochettino’s side. Hence, Tottenham should spend big to sign the 28-year-old German from Leverkusen in the summer.
