Tottenham reviving interest in this 21-year-old Ukrainian prospect would add some much-needed firepower

Why Tottenham should revive interest in Viktor Tsyhankov

Back in 2018, Tottenham Hotspur were targeting Ukrainian prospect Viktor Tsyhankov only for the pursuit to be discarded in the end.

Spurs have made quite an impact in the current transfer window and yet, they are blindfolded when it comes to the attacking reinforcements.

The North London side is currently devoid of numbers in their attacking line-up, relying on particular players. There needs to be someone who should take the scoring burden off Son Heung-min and Harry Kane.

Given that, Mauricio Pochettino can avail the services of Tsyhankov, who has been a stand-out player in Ukraine’s top-flight over the course.

What does Tsyhankov hold in store for Spurs?

Being the skipper of Dynamo Kyiv, Tsyhankov had a fantastic season the last term, racking a total of 20 goals and 17 assists in all competitions.

The 21-year-old has kept intact his goal-scoring ratio over the past two seasons, as his goals and assists tally has always crossed the double-figure mark.

He is a left-winger by trade and is synonymous with the attacking midfield role. Having already earned 15 caps for his national team, Tsyhankov won the Ukranian Player of the Year award last year.

At Spurs, Pochettino has been devoid of the luxury of bench strength. Keeping that in mind, the 2018/19 season was remarkable as they finished as runners-up in the Champions League.

Going forward, the Argentine manager can’t afford to have an unbalanced squad, especially when it comes to the attacking line-up.

Often at times, Pochettino deployed Christian Eriksen as the winger and the absence of wide men in the attack became apparent. Moreover, the ex-Espanyol manager never stuck to a standard formation in the last term.

The inclusion of the Ukrainian prodigy would help Spurs form a fierce front-three, with Tyshankov playing as a right-winger.Under Pochettino’s 4-2-3-1, Tyshanhov can play either in the hole or as an inverted winger, since he is left-footed.

Final Verdict

The North Londoners are about to start their new campaign with high spirits. However, they need to complete the squad at their disposal to make a statement in the Premier League.

Signing a young and intelligent attacker like Tsyhankov would add depth to their attack.
