Tottenham opinion: Should Spurs make move for Nabil Fekir?
Tottenham’s season so far has seen them emerge as rather lucky yet not entirely lucky bystanders, with them reaching the Champions League final. Few fans would have predicted this end to the season, especially after the mid-season collapse the club endured.
It seemed like losing Mousa Dembele hurt them more than they ever expected and that changed everything. After his departure in January, nothing went right for the club and they started off on a downfall that kicked them out of the title race.
In fact, their struggles saw lifetime rivals Arsenal close the gap down to just three points from 12 in the space of a few weeks. That saw Tottenham finish the season at fourth position despite them holding third place for most of the season. It allowed Chelsea to leapfrog them.
It’s one of the many reasons why Mauricio Pochettino cannot go without adding players this summer. The club has to spend to thrive in the Premier League, especially given what the likes of Manchester City and others can spend.
Things need to change soon, otherwise, Tottenham could see their core squad leave for a better chance at a trophy. However, it seems that the club are changing things and have considered a move for Nabil Fekir.
English news outlet Football.London has reported as such, with the North Londoners joining Liverpool in the race for the French star. A world-class midfielder, Fekir hasn’t had the best of times in the Ligue 1 but has still delivered.
He has contributed to 21 goals in 30 appearances this season, including 5 in 6 Champions League appearances for Olympique Lyon. Since he is at his peak, given he is 25, he would perfectly fit into Tottenham’s young side.
It’s Tottenham’s chance to sign a top player and if the club does end up losing Christian Eriksen, the Frenchman would be the ideal replacement.
