Tottenham Opinion: Spurs must hijack Man Utd’s move for Goncalo Guedes

Heung-Min Son has been a revelation this season. The South-Korean has made an incredible impact for Tottenham this season and is their second highest goal-scorer. Moreover, Son has become an integral part of their side, scoring crucial goals at key moments.

Lucas Moura, on the other hand, started the season really well, even putting Manchester United to the sword with two brilliantly taken goals. Since then, however, the former PSG star has struggled to make an impact, with injuires and various other issues playing a part.

That has put Tottenham in big trouble this season, as they’ve had to depend on Harry Kane and Son-Heung Min for their goals. While both players have stepped up along with Christian Eriksen, nobody else has managed to hit double figures for goals.

This has caused a big problem and is one of the many reasons why Tottenham’s title challenge has struggled to hold up over the last two months.

That being said, with Spanish news outlet Don Balon reporting that Manchester United are ready to make a move for Goncalo Guedes, it’s a move that Tottenham must look to hijack.

Still only 22 years old, Guedes has struggled this season and yet remains one of the brightest prospects in world football.

Inconsistent during his time at PSG after a move from Benfica saw him move to Valencia on loan. Since then however, the Portuguese forward has shown exactly why PSG really wanted him, with a combination of speed, clinical finishing and unpredictability proving to be a lethal combination.

He finished last season as one of the revelations of the season, having produced 17 goals in all competitions. Furthermore, it was his versatility that stood out.

That’s exactly why Tottenham would be the perfect side for the 22-year-old and his addition would strengthen their team by some margin.

Tottenham need reinforcements next summer if they ever are to mount a proper title challenge against heavy spenders like Manchester City and Liverpool. While bringing in someone as talented as Goncalo Guedes won’t do that at first, he’s a player that the club can build a team around going forward.
