Why Tottenham Fans Should Be Excited About Their Potential Signing

Tottenham seem set to secure the signing of Vincent Janssen, this after weeks of negotiations and talks that the London club might sign someone else in the current transfer window. The London club have been looking for another striker since the start of last season to ease the pressure on Harry Kane and also give them another option to have on the bench, in case things do not go right next season.

That was one of the criticisms of Mauricio Pochettino’s side last season, when things went well for them, they were probably the best side to watch but if they did not have Harry Kane firing the goals in, not one else really stepped up in that department.

Fortunately for Tottenham, what they have in Janssen is a Dutch international that seems to be scoring goals for fun. The 22-year-old scored 27 goals in just 34 appearances for AZ Alkmaar last season, even if the Eredivisie isn’t the toughest league in the world, it still is a great record to have and the Dutchman also chipped in with four assists.

While Harry Kane is a great player on his own, if he does get a chance to play with Janssen, this could be one of the most lethal pairings in the history of the Premier League. Janssen is also known for his excellent finishing skills and also is great at holding the ball up and passing it around for his other teammates so that they can join the attack as well.

The 22-year-old might not be tallest centre-forward in the world but he is great in and around the ball and is known for his dribbling ability as well, something that Harry Kane and most of the attacking talent at White Hart Lane are good at also.

The stats and the traits do show that Janssen is perfect for the pass and move game that Tottenham have and the fact that they are willing to hit the opposition on the break is another aspect of the game that could work well with Janssen.

There is one problem though, Janssen and Kane both player down the middle, so either Tottenham should start with two strikers or would have to put one of them on the bench, since they are pretty similar players to each other.

Janssen’s ability to pick out long range passes and also the fact that he can play important through balls would be extra important for the likes of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen this season as Spurs look to do better than their last Premier League campaign and with the Champions League also calling for them, this signing could very well be one of the shrewdest and best this season, as long as Pochettino knows how to use both strikers.
