Why this Liverpool flop could be the ideal partner for Jamie Vardy at Leicester City

Ings could be Vardy’s new partner in crime at the King Power

Leicester City will be aiming to bring in a number of reinforcements before the start of the new season. The Foxes lost talismanic figure Riyad Mahrez to Manchester City last week, which means Claude Puel is going to have to bring in more attacking talent to the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes already completed a few deals by snapping up the likes of Danny Ward, Johnny Evans, Ricardo Pereira and James Maddison. Puel should still have some funds to bring in one more offensive player.

The club have been linked with out of favour Liverpool striker Danny Ings over the last few days. Claude Puel is reportedly interested in prizing away the former Burnley striker, who could provide the Foxes with additional cover in the attack.

Liverpool have reportedly set a price tag of £20million for the player, which the Foxes are going to have to cough up in order to sign him. Leicester previously made a bid for the striker back when he was at Turf Moor but Ings made the decision to stay put and later move to Anfield.

The striker enjoyed a successful spell with the Clarets, making a total of 122 league appearances for the club, scoring 38 goals in that time. He then moved to Liverpool on a free transfer in 2015 but has only been able to muster a total of 25 appearances for the club, scoring 4 goals.

This was largely due to Ings’ horrendous injury record which often keeps him on the sidelines. Ings made a return to the team this season after spending almost a year and a half on the treatment table.

Danny Ings

He made a total of 8 appearances in the Premier League last season, scoring just 1 goal. Don’t let his poor statistics fool you. Ings is a brilliant out and out striker wirh good movement. He is excellent at timing his runs and linking up with fellow teammates. The 26-year-old is a clinical striker with deadly finishing in front of goal.

Ings scored a goal on his Merseyside derby debut, which made him an instant hit amongst the Anfield faithful. But the failure to nail down a regular role in the squad has seen his popularity fade away. Leicester City should certainly sign him in a bid to revive his career. If Ings can stay healthy and fit under Puel, he can go on to become Jamie Vardy’s new partner in crime and they could rock the Premier League next season.
