Why Ryan Sessegnon Would Be A Perfect Fit For Tottenham

They came excruciatingly close to the Premier League title twice in two years, Spurs have loads of positive to look forward to next season. They are once again a seeded club in the Champions League and will have a decent chance to move into the knockout stage. But the manager will have to make sure that he improves the quality of the squad to compete with the best next season.

They have been linked with some of the most exciting players in Europe but one teenager that Pochettino seems desperate to sign is Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon. Easily the most exciting player at his age, Sessegnon was born and raised in Roehampton and is a product of the Fulham academy.

A left-back by trait, the 17-year old is an attacking full-back who loves to spend more time in the final third than defending his goal. For his age, he is surprisingly strong and has already learnt the art of hold up play, which will come in handy in the Premier League.

With 7 goals and 5 assists in 31 senior appearances for the Championship outfit, Sessegnon was one of the most productive defenders in the recently concluded campaign and is wanted by a number of top clubs in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp was also looking at him as a possible addition but Spurs are reportedly the front-runners to land him this summer.

An excellent dribbler with loads of pace to burn, Sessegnon is an excellent passer of the ball and is adept at creating chances for his side. Though he needs to work on his crossing, he is comfortable in delivering balls from wide areas, which are quite dangerous at times.

However, his strength lies in his concentration and vision that allow him to pick his man with the right pass, even under severe pressure. He is already showing signs of maturity way beyond his age and seems ready for the next step. Tottenham is probably the best destination for him.

Spurs have Danny Rose as the first choice left-back in the squad but he missed most part of the season through injury and has been extensively linked with an exit this summer. Ben Davies was decent in this role but Pochettino cannot go into the season with him as the first choice and this is probably why he has been tempted to add Sessegnon to the squad.

The Fulham star cannot expect to be the first choice next season but he has an opportunity to act as an understudy at the highest level at such a young age. He will only get better under a manager who has an affinity towards young players.
