Go For It Klopp – Why This 26-Year-Old Porto Midfielder Will Be A Perfect Option For Liverpool?

Liverpool are reportedly very close to signing a midfielder. According to Metro, Liverpool are just a step away from signing Porto’s vice captain, Hector Herrera. Hector Herrera has just come off a terrific season for Porto and is currently playing well for Mexico at the Copa America. The 26-year-old Mexican is a box-to-box midfielder and has a knack of scoring goals. The 2015/16 was his best campaign in Porto colours, scoring 9 times, which was also his best ever goal-scoring return. Hector Herrera has become a key figure in Porto’s midfield and was vital to the team’s performances last season.

Liverpool have already acquired two midfielders this summer, Marko Grujic and Joel Matip. Joel Matip will play at the centre of the defense alongside Dejan Lovren. And besides that, Liverpool already have Jordan Henderson, Emre Can, Joe Allen and Lucas Leiva as central midfielders and the addition of Hector Herrera would leave a host of players fighting for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven. Liverpool haven’t found a replacement for Steven Gerrard (no one can replace him), but Herrera seems to be a good option.

Herrera was Porto’s main man in the midfield and had a vital influence on the team’s performances last season. Herrera scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists which speak of the goal-scoring knack he has. Liverpool need someone who is solid in the midfield and can provide stability. Emre Can was excellent for Liverpool last season, but he did not have a perfect partner. Herrera is a box-to-box midfielder, something Jurgen Klopp is looking for in his team and will be looking to bring some players who can attack as well as defend. Herrera is not only good while going forward but he also tracks back to his own penalty blocks and makes tackles and blocks shots. Herrera’s stamina is excellent and considering the high pressing game that Liverpool play, he will fit in well.

Herrera is very mobile and he presses opponents well. He can make moves and create goal scoring chances and he can also make perfect tackles. Liverpool need a player who can provide stability in the midfield and Herrera is just the sort of player because he performs his defensive duties well and helps the team out during set pieces. Herrera will also complement Can well in Liverpool’s midfield and together, they can form a very stable midfield for Liverpool.

Signing Herrera is a very good option for Jurgen Klopp, considering the Mexican’s style of play and performances over the past few seasons. Herrera would adjust to Liverpool’s style of play well and Klopp should look to sign him.
