With Arsenal And Liverpool Interested, Who Should Hirving Lozano Join?

Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly set to indulge in a bidding war to sign £42m PSV Eindhoven forward Hirving Lozano. The 22-year-old has been in red-hot form this season, having scored 10 goals in 15 appearances. These numbers are quite spectacular and have attracted attention from some big clubs across Europe.

However, the two Premier League sides are understood to be set for a head-to-head battle to acquire his services. While he could prove to be a valuable addition to both sides, who should Lozano actually join?

Ever since Lozano joined PSV from Pachuca in June, the player established himself as a regular at the club. In fact, it was in the initial stages of the 2017/18 Eredivisie season that he became a vital figure for Eindhoven. It is understandable that the Dutch club would be unlikely to want to sell him already but a hefty amount could sway their mind. Consistency is a strong trait of Lozano’s since he was quite a goalscoring machine at his former club as well.

He currently enjoys a growing reputation as one of Mexico’s finest and a move to the Premier League will help him seal his status further. Playing for either Arsenal or Liverpool could severely improve his chances of sealing a berth in Mexico’s World Cup squad next year, which means the player himself could be open to making a move in January.

At Arsenal, the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez refuses to die down. Both of them have refused to sign new contracts, meaning they are highly likely to leave in the near future. It certainly does not help that they are both key players for Arsene Wenger and the manager does not have too many options to replace them with.

Moreover, chants of ‘Wenger Out’ keep growing stronger by the day and it will be imperative for Arsenal to seal a Champions League qualification spot to appease the angry fans. To do so, a player like Lozano seems necessary.

The situation at Liverpool is a tad bit similar but not so dire. Yes, there is the possibility of Philippe Coutinho leaving but one look at Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah and that is enough to determine that Jurgen Klopp is looking at Lozano as a luxury option to provide more depth to the attack. Hence, the need for a player like Lozano is greater at Arsenal and ideally, the player should choose the Gunners over the Reds, if given a choice.
