Why the 30-year-old Julian Nagelsmann is the perfect choice to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal

Arsene Wenger is expected to leave Arsenal this summer and after they lost once more to Manchester City in a Premier League game on Thursday, it seems highly likely to happen. The Gunners have misfired throughout the season so far and appear to be in a slump of form at present.

Despite bringing in the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Arsenal continue to falter and the fans are extremely frustrated with the manager’s questionable tactics and decisions.

If Wenger continues beyond this season, there is no doubt that he will destroy the legacy he worked so hard to build. After failing to qualify for the Champions League last season, the fans were livid and from what we have seen so far, it seems highly unlikely that we will get to see Arsenal in the elite European competition next term as well.

Hence, it looks like it is high time for Wenger to exit and as per latest reports, Julian Nagelsmann is being touted as the prime candidate to replace him.

At just 30 years of age, the 1899 Hoffenheim manager has been in the news for all the right reasons. After years of playing under Wenger, Arsenal are in need of a dynamic new manager to lift them out of this slump and to that end, Nagelsmann seems like an option worth exploring.

He took charge of Hoffenheim when he was 28 and at a time when they were facing a relegation battle. However, Nagelsmann turned things around for them remarkably and helped them remain in the top-flight.

Known for his pragmatic approach and unconventional ways, Nagelsmann is an inventor in the truest sense of the term. His formations are usually attack-oriented and one of his biggest positives is that he does not stick to a routine and is not afraid to shake things up in terms of tactics and personnel. Yes, there will be a risk factor associated with that but Arsenal have strictly adhered to a routine in the past couple of years and where has that got them?

Hence, appointing Nagelsmann in place of Wenger could prove to be a step in the right direction for Arsenal. They need fresh blood and new ideas in the club, along with a manager who is not afraid to take risks. To that end, the Hoffenheim manager seems like a solid option.

Furthermore, the chance to manage an English powerhouse side like the Gunners will definitely be a massive turning point in Naglesmann’s career, thus resulting in a win-win situation for all parties involved.
