Tottenham would bag a massive coup by signing this 21-year-old midfielder setting the Championship alight

Why Spurs should go all out for QPR starlet Eberechi Eze in January

According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing exciting prospect Eberechi Eze from Queens Park Rangers, with fellow Premier League outfit Southampton also keeping track of the 21-year-old’s progress in the Championship.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder, who has been one of the key driving forces behind QPR’s promising start to the season, has taken the Championship by storm with a number of dazzling displays in the opening stages of the ongoing campaign.

The Greenwich-born starlet has already racked up 3 goals and 2 assists in 7 league appearances for Mark Warburton’s side this term, producing man-of-the-match displays to propel his team to victories over Wigan Athletic and Luton Town.

Perhaps, his stunning display in QPR’s victory over Luton Town last week was the best of the lot, with his emphatic 20-yard drive past the goalkeeper and a delicious through ball to assist Nakhi Wells good enough to go down as some of the top highlights of Round 7.

And Eze’s incredible start to the new season hasn’t eluded the eyes of some of the Premier League clubs, with Spurs and Southampton closely monitoring his development.

Having burst on the scene at Loftus Road back in the 2017-18 campaign, Eze’s talent and potential have never been in doubt but, with the youngster now showing signs of adding that much-needed consistency and temperament to his game under the guidance of Warburton, QPR might have a tough task ahead of them in keeping hold of their prized asset.

The 21-year-old faded away after a brilliant start to the previous campaign and finished with a modest tally of 4 goals and 3 assists in 42 Championship outings. However, he looks well on course to better those numbers this time around, having added a lot more to his repertoire of skills.

To put things into perspective, Spurs should continue to keep a close eye on Eberechi Eze and the Lilywhites should not hesitate to plot a swoop for the versatile attacking midfielder in January if he continues his rich vein of form in the Championship.

Spurs snapped up 18-year-old prodigy Jack Clarke from Leeds United in the summer transfer window and it is hardly a surprise to see another bright prospect like Eze on their radar, with the North Londoners apparently keen to polish a few highly-rated Championship starlets into first-team stars in the future.

To that end, Eze has certainly got the potential to evolve into a top-quality professional and carve out a reputation for himself at a big-six club in the Premier League.

There is hardly anyone better than Mauricio Pochettino when it comes to moulding youngsters into world-beaters and the Spurs’ interest in the 21-year-old makes perfect sense.

Capable of operating in a central attacking role behind the striker and also out wide on the flanks, the starlet has certainly got the raw pace and acceleration to run riot, trickery and vision to rip defences apart and a bit more work on his decision-making and composure could see him develop into a second version of Raheem Sterling.

Indeed, those are attributes that one would expect Eze to add to his game as he continues to progress and it is not difficult to see that Spurs would land themselves a potential gem for the future if they do go ahead with a move in January or next summer.
