Why Southampton should beat West Ham in signature of Marcus Forss

According to a report in Guardian, West Ham and Southampton have been attracted by the performances of AFC Wimbledon striker Marcus Forss and could make a move for him in the future.

Forss, who is on loan at Wimbledon from Brentford, has scored eight goals in 11 games in all competitions this season so far. His good form has attracted the interest of the Premier League duo.

The 20-year-old Finland U21 international has a contract with Brentford until the summer of 2023. It is clear that clubs need to pay a good amount of money in order to sign him.

On the other hand, Southampton have made a horror start to their season, which was compounded by a 9-0 loss at home to Leicester City last Friday. They feature in the bottom three of the league table at the moment.

Here’s why Saints should sign Forss ahead of West Ham:

Saints need more goals in their team up front

Marcus Forss is a quality young striker, who was a West Brom youth player before moving to Brentford. He is currently plying his trade at Wimbledon in League One football, where scoring goals is coming quite naturally to him.

In terms of his attributes, the 20-year-old is a pacy forward, who likes to play on the shoulder of defenders and make runs in behind them. He is physically and aerially strong, making him a threat from crosses and set-pieces.

Furthermore, the Finland U21 international is a good dribbler of the ball, meaning he can go past players in the final third before having a pop on goal. His general finishing has improved massively this season, which is a sign of a player constantly on the rise.

If Southampton manage to beat West Ham to sign him, they would have a player who adds goals to their team. With only nine goals scored in 10 games, Saints are struggling below the black line.

Conclusion

Southampton need to do everything in their might to sign Marcus Forss during the upcoming transfer window/s.
