Why Liverpool Over Arsenal Would Be A Better Destination For Julian Draxler

Paris Saint-Germain are easily one of the favourites to win the coveted UEFA Champions League this season. They spent a gigantic sum of money over the summer and while it helped them land the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, a young German superstar got lost in all the sparkle.

Julian Draxler is surplus to requirements for Unai Emery and there seems to be lesser room for him in the squad after their summer business. It is understandable that the 23-year-old wanted to give it a shot and hence chose to stay back but seeing how he has failed to establish himself so far, the player is likely to be keen on an exit either in January or next summer. There’s no dearth of interest in him and Draxler will easily find a club. But where should he go?

As far as the Premier League is concerned, Draxler is being linked with Liverpool and Arsenal. Incidentally, he was linked with the Reds over the summer as well, since Jurgen Klopp was desperately seeking replacements for Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian did not leave them back then but he might do so in the near future. For that event, Klopp seems to have identified Draxler as a potential replacement.

Similarly, for Arsenal, the uncertainty surrounding Alexis Sanchez’s future has prompted Arsene Wenger to seek reinforcements and the £31.5m rated Draxler is believed to be one of the names on the list. Both clubs can offer unique benefits to the prolific German but which one should Draxler choose?

Considering the situation at both clubs, Draxler is likely to receive better opportunities, which includes Champions League football at Liverpool. Moreover, the Gunners brought in Sven Mislintat with a view to shape a future for the club in the absence of Wenger, which can only mean that the manager could exit the club soon. If that happens, it will be an uphill task for Arsenal to find a replacement.

Draxler is blessed with blistering pace and an admirable set of skills and tricks. His shooting accuracy is truly commendable and since he is so young, he has the potential to become a world-class attacker with Liverpool’s current squad. The player is not only a World Cup winner but he also rallied a relatively inexperienced German side to lift the Confederations Cup earlier this year.

Comparatively, Liverpool can offer him better stability and security. They have struggled at times so far but that is mainly due to their defensive frailties. As far as the attack goes, the Reds have been top-notch and if Coutinho leaves, Draxler will be the part of a dynamic attacking environment at the club. It will also allow him to clock more playing minutes while adding some value to the overall performance – something he is not currently able to do at PSG.
