Why Signing This German International Attacker Makes Send For Manchester City

The Pep Guardiola bandwagon reaches Manchester City this summer, as the Spanish manager looks to build a legacy at the Etihad Stadium. After he announced earlier this year that his next destination will be England, many clubs went into an overdrive to get the former Barcelona manager. However Guardiola decided that the blue half of Manchester was going to be home for the next few years. He will come into a team that is deflated of confidence after a disappointing last season, where they scrapped into the top four. His task will be to rebuild the club from the top to bottom, make them a European powerhouse, just like his former teams.

There is no doubt that Guardiola will investing heavily in getting the necessary reinforcements, which will also mean that some players will have to leave in order to make space for the new incoming ones. City have already made two quality additions to their squad this summer, in the form of Ilkay Gundogan and Nolito.

However there are still some gaps that need to be filled before the squad is fully ready to mount a serious title challenge. Manchester City are believed to be in talks with Schalke over Leroy Sane, after reports the club have agreed personal terms with the player. He is an exciting young player and one that new manager Pep Guardiola will be aware of, after managing in Germany for the last three years.

Still just 20 years of age and with only 57 appearances for Schalke to his name, there are doubts regarding whether Leroy Sane is worth a hefty transfer fee close to the region of £50million. He made only one appearance in his first season at Schalke in 2014-2015. However now he is a full Germany international. Although Sane has made four international appearances and was part of Low’s German squad for the Euros, he is yet to establish himself as first choice.

Sane is a right sided winger, who is direct, often looking to cut in onto his stronger left foot. He is also very good in the air, which is a bonus for any manager. He uses his strength and power to beat players, rather than relying on pace. His pace might be a bit of concern coming into the English Premier League. The prospect of him linking up with Sergio Aguero will be a mouth-watering one for the fans. He is still very inexperienced, therefore one feels he will not be regular starter but a squad player for atleast the next season.

The fact that he rushes into decisions in the final third will be a cause for concern for Guardiola but if there is anyone who can guide a young player properly then it is the Spanish manager. He is young and energetic something which will be of value in the City squad.
