Why signing Kulusevski could solve Arsenal’s problems in the attack
According to The Sun, Premier League side Arsenal are keeping tabs on Parma star Dejan Kulusevski.
The Swedish youngster has had a fruitful season while on loan at Parma from Italian side Atalanta. It is believed that the 19-year-old’s performances have caught the eye of a number of clubs including Manchester United, AC Milan and Juventus, the report added.
The £40million-rated attacking midfielder was available for a sum of £8.5million last summer before Atalanta decided to send him on loan, the report claims.
The swift rise in his market value itself is a mere reflection of the youngster’s potential and the key role he plays within his squad. Kulusevski, who moved from Sweden in 2016, rose up through the academy at Atalanta before he was shipped to Parma to gain more game time.
He has featured in Parma’s 15 games this season and has scored 3 goals. The teenager has also contributed to his side by giving 5 assists. Arsenal, meanwhile, are struggling in the Premier League this season, sitting at 10th place, and eight points short of fourth-placed Chelsea.
Freddie Ljungberg’s side have so far scored 24 goals this season – the majority of which have come from the boots of skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabon international has 11 goals to his name and is their leading goal-scorer in the league. A lack of creativity from the Gunners midfield has been one of the major reasons for Arsenal’s lack of goals this season.
With 3 assists, new summer signing Nicolas Pepe leads the charts for the most number of assists by an Arsenal player in the league. But even the French winger has struggled to find a rhythm since arriving at the Emirates and has looked inconsistent.
Moreover, 3 assists seems to be such a low number for a club of Arsenal’s stature. This raises some serious doubts regarding the team’s quality and depth in the midfield.

Mesut Ozil has looked a mere shadow of his past this season. The German veteran has managed just one assist so far. Moreover, the 2014 World Cup winner with Germany is already 31 and looks way past his prime.
Verdict
Without a doubt, the mere number of goals Arsenal have scored this season are an indicator of the clear lack of talent in the Gunners midfield. Hence, a move for the in-form Kulusevski seems to be one in the right direction.
Also, the Swede is still in his teens and could be a good future replacement for the likes of old guard Ozil.
