Man United signing this world-class teenage star for £119m would make them a superpower

Why signing Jadon Sancho would make Manchester United a superpower

According to Goal (h/t Express) Manchester United intend to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho when the January Transfer window reopens.

United wanted to sign Sancho last summer as he was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top target, but they never made any serious advancement for the youngster. And now Ed Woodward, chief executive of Manchester United, is willing to pay £119m to secure his services.

He came through the ranks at Manchester City and joined Dortmund in 2017. At the end of his first season in Germany, Sancho was the highest assist provider in the Bundesliga, making a name for himself across Europe.

In 11 games this season, he has already scored 5 goals and chalked up 7 assists for the German outfit. He has been a regular in Lucian Favre’s team sheet and has become a consistent assist provider in Europe. Manchester United would become a better team if they succeed in landing the youngster.

The Red Devils have endured a mixed season, where they have lost some easy fixtures and have taken maximum points from crucial games – most recently against Manchester City. Solskjaer’s men are steadily moving higher up the table but they seem to be inconsistent.

At the moment, Manchester United don’t have an established winger to cover the right flank. Daniel James, mainly a left-winger, has been deployed on the right-hand side of attack and has done quite well, but has not been as productive as he was on the left.

This is where Jadon Sancho has expressed himself at the highest level for Dortmund. He burst onto the scene immediately after he moved to Germany. His impressive displays have made him a favourite to start in the right-wing position under Favre.

Sancho is known for his technique, dribbling, and can skip past defenders easily. His skills on the field are eye-catching and he is known to be dangerous in a 1v1 situation.

He posses a variety of skill-sets which is rare to be found in players of his age. His vision and creativity backed up by pace allows him to create a lot of goalscoring opportunities.

At Manchester United, Sancho can be more effective than Daniel James, who is also known for his pace but has to improve on his crosses and creativity. Sancho’s current form would also be helpful for Rashford and Anthony Martial in front of the goal.

Therefore, United, at any cost must make sure they get their hands on the teenager. The right-winger can add more quality to their attack and they would become more dangerous in the Premier League with Sancho in their ranks.

Forking out £119m for the England international might prove to be decisive in United transforming into a powerhouse and they must make sure this happens in January.
