Havertz, considered as one of the hottest prospects in Europe, has attracted interest from a host of clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City among many others.
However, due to the high level of interest, Leverkusen have set a big sum of £111million as asking price for the 20-year-old, the report added.
The young German had a breakthrough season last year, scoring a whopping 17 goals from 34 appearances and assisting 4 times in the process, thus catching the attention of many of Europe’s top clubs.
The youngster was in a rich vein of form last season, helping Leverkusen earn a Champions League spot with eye-catching displays in the attack.
He has not been as efficient this season after being troubled by injuries but has still managed to score 3 goals from 20 games across all competitions for the German side.
Despite his young age, he has made over 100 appearances for the German outfit and continues to be a key player since making his debut for them in the 2016-17 season as a 17-year old.
To add to his list of achievements, the versatile attacker has so far racked up a total of 31 goals for Leverkusen and has also provided 23 assists to date.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are in the lookout for some new faces after their transfer ban got reduced by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in Switzerland recently.
Frank Lampard’s side are currently 4th in the league with 10 wins from 18 games and six points short of third-placed Manchester City.
However, Chelsea have had a slur in form in recent weeks after starting the season on a high note. Hence, it does not come as a surprise that they have talented midfielder Havertz among their targets.
At the moment, Chelsea need a new face on the right wing with all other positions looking intact after Lampard’s decision to induct academy graduates into the side turned out to be a successful move.
Youngsters such as Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, Reece James and Tammy Abraham have struck gold for the Blues this season with their impressive performances on the pitch, which saw them climb up the table.
With Lampard short of new players on the right flank, he opted to go with veteran winger Willian at the start of the season. Though Willian looked to have regained his form this season, he is 31 already and won’t get younger.
Meanwhile, Pedro has fallen down the pecking order under Lampard and has rarely featured this season.
That said, Chelsea need somebody with experience and quality on the right and young Havertz could be a great addition to the side considering his versatility to play anywhere in the attack.
Having fulfilled his role as an attacker in a variety of different attacking roles for Leverkusen it would not take Havertz much time to adjust to the new conditions if a deal does happen.
Hence, Chelsea must make an attempt to sign the young German if they wish to stay ahead in the table for a longer duration.
