According to the Express, FC Metz player Habibou Diallo is on Leicester’s radar. The report further claims that Newcastle United are also plotting a move for him, and that Metz are willing to let the player depart in January for a fee of £7m.
The Senegalese international came through the ranks at Metz and has established himself as their top scorer this season. In the 12 games he has played so far, he has netted 8 goals in the Ligue 1. Although Metz are at the bottom of the Ligue 1, he has been impressive.
The young forward has a lot to offer, having been a regular starter for Metz. He has been a consistent player, scoring a total of 26 goals last season and helping them earn promotion to the Ligue 1.
Leicester City are heavily dependent on Jamie Vardy and signing Diallo would add depth to their squad. At present, Leicester have only three forwards. Vardy and Ayoze Perez are the only two regular starters up front, and Iheanacho has not gotten regular playing time.
For an established team, it is necessary to have at least three regular forwards to enable squad rotation as the clashes get tougher.
Thus, Diallo’s presence would also add a healthy sense of competition within the team.

Diallo may not be able to get regular playing time at Leicester City straight off the bat but he can grow steadily. He has a long way to go and his development would be aided by joining the Foxes.
Considering his previous stints at Liverpool and Celtic, it is safe to suggest that Brendan Rodgers is capable of extracting the best out of Diallo. Thus, signing him would be a win-win situation.
