According to a report from talkSPORT (h/t The Daily Mail), Liverpool are in advanced talks with Bournemouth regarding a deal for Ryan Fraser in January, which could see Harry Wilson making his loan switch to the Vitality Stadium permanent.
Ryan Fraser, 25, was one of the standout performers in the Premier League last season, producing 14 assists. Although the Scotsman stayed put at the club, he has not yet recaptured last season’s form, managing just a goal and two assists in 11 appearances this season.
The 25-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and the report claims that Liverpool are interested in a bargain deal in January, with Bournemouth willing to cash in on Fraser while they can.
Harry Wilson, 22, is currently on loan at the Cherries, impressing so far this season with four Premier League goals in 11 appearances. Truly, the swap deal will be a win-win situation for all the parties involved.
Liverpool, who extended their lead at the top of the table after beating Manchester City 3-1, lack depth in the forward department. The Reds didn’t make any marquee signing in the summer but must reinforce their squad in January by adding back-up to the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
With injuries and fatigue guaranteed, Fraser could be an exciting option to freshen up his forward line in the New Year.
Predominantly a left-winger, Fraser can play on the right flank, in a midfield three, as a no.10 or in a wing-back position. That just speaks volumes about his versatility.
The Scotland international may not have set the world alight this season but last season’s tally of 14 assists gives an idea about his creativity in the final third.
Following Philippe Coutinho’s departure last year, the Reds have found it difficult to open up teams that sit in low blocks and Fraser could be the Brazilian’s potential replacement, whilst being a top option from the bench as well.
If Liverpool agree on a swap deal that would see Wilson move to Bournemouth permanently, it’ll satisfy all the parties involved.
