Leicester signing this 25-year-old attacking star would secure their future after Jamie Vardy

Why Roger Assale would be a brilliant signing for Leicester City

Back in 2018, a report from Daily Mail had claimed that Leicester City were interested in signing Young Boys striker Roger Assale. However, no deal materialised.

Roger Assale, 25, joined Young Boys from TP Mazembe in 2017 and enjoyed a solid debut season that saw him bag 12 goals and 11 assists in 34 league outings. His productivity dropped a bit last term, although the 25-year-old still managed 9 goals and 11 assists in 33 games.

The Ivorian has started the 2019/20 campaign well, scoring three goals in all competitions so far including a goal in the recently 2-1 victory over Rangers in the Europa League.

Considering his consistent performances for Young Boys, Leicester City shouldn’t hesitate to reignite their interest in Assale when the transfer window reopens.

Jamie Vardy has been firing all cylinders for Leicester ever since the appointment of Brendan Rodgers as manager. Even though the English striker is doing well, he is 32 and could give two seasons at the highest level at the most. Rodgers needs to start planning for the future as well and he’ll do a wise job to sign a replacement for the ageing Vardy in January.

To put things into perspective, Roger Assale would be a great fit at the King Power Stadium. He is the type of player Leicester City desperately is in need of.

Assale is not just a fine dribbler, he is a technically-gifted and tactically versatile forward with a superb eye for goal. Due to his blistering pace, the Ivorian has the ability to race past his opponent in a blink of an eye and finish off a chance.

The 25-year-old is not only a clinical finisher in front of goal but is equally adept at creating opportunities for his teammates. Despite being a diminutive presence, Assale is strong, difficult to shake off, works really hard off the ball and can run tirelessly for the entire duration of the game.

At 25, he has the right attributes to make a name for himself in the English game and his movement and positioning in the box will suit the talented midfielders in the Foxes ranks.

Verdict

Everything points towards a conclusion that Assale would be a fantastic addition to the Leicester City squad. Therefore, Brendan Rodgers must make the move as early as possible in January to give his squad the boost to finish in the top four this season.
