Why Real Madrid Signing Tottenham’s Harry Kane Is Not A Possibility

Every time a transfer window rolls out, there are some recurring rumours that simply refuse to die down. For example, Cristiano Ronaldo is almost perpetually linked to move back to his former club Manchester United and while there are very little of chances of that ever happening in the real world, it does raise the expectations of the fans. At present, Tottenham are having to deal with a similar situation with their talisman Harry Kane.

Kane has been in exemplary form for the North London side in the last couple of seasons but this time, he is arguably in his best form ever. At 24 years of age, he is regarded as the best striker in the Premier League and a lot of hope resides on him to take England far in the upcoming World Cup.

In 31 appearances across competitions for Tottenham this season, Kane has already scored 30 goals. That is a truly astounding number for a striker – even more so in a league as competitive as the Premier League.

That in itself is a testament to what he is capable of and he has rightfully attracted a lot of attention for his goalscoring exploits. Some domestic clubs have been linked with a move for the Englishman but reigning European champions Real Madrid are also understood to be harbouring an interest, with Spurs reportedly ready to accept a €200m bid. The La Liga giants have not endured the best of times this season as they try to defend all the trophies they collected last time around.

Karim Benzema has failed to lead the line miserably and with Gareth Bale in and out due to injuries, it has been a tough time for Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Ronaldo has been doing what he can but there has been a glaring lack of depth in the attacking department and Zinedine Zidane needs to find a reliable striker – somebody who can go out on any occasion and net a goal or two.

They certainly do not lack creative players and with the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos pulling the strings in the midfield, and having a player like Kane does seem like a tantalizing prospect.

However, despite the reports, given the situation, it does seem a bit far-fetched for Tottenham to even allow their star goalscorer to leave. That said, from what we have seen so far, anything can be achieved if the price is right.

Kane can work wonders to bring Real out of their slump and he could truly elevate his career and take it to the next level at the Santiago Bernabeu. Regardless, the player has always maintained that he is very committed to Tottenham and the Spanish giants might have to do without him for the time being, at least.
