According to a report by Express, Rangers chiefs have held talks regarding the possibility of signing on-loan winger Sheyi Ojo permanently during the next summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old, who is currently on loan from Liverpool for the whole of this season, has done well at the Ibrox so far. He is one of the regular starting members under Steven Gerrard.
Ojo is an academy product of Liverpool but has spent time out on loan with Wigan, Wolves, Fulham and French club Reims. However, he did not get regular playing time at either of those places and struggled to make an impact.
Things have taken a turn on the positive side since his arrival in Scotland. Gerrard clearly trusts him by handing him regular starts and the youngster has repaid the faith with five goals and four assists in 17 appearances in all competitions so far.
Here’s why Rangers should not think twice about handing a permanent contract to the winger:
Sheyi Ojo is a dynamic young winger, who can play on either side of the attack and is comfortable operating as a support striker if required.
With what we have seen of him so far in a Rangers shirt, the 22-year-old possesses great pace to stretch the opposition defence at all times. He dribbles the ball well, can go past defenders in a flash and often picks out the right pass in the final third.
Gerrard has been using him in wide areas and it has paid dividends, as the player does have the propensity to make runs up the field and also help the defence.
The Liverpool man looks like he is playing his best football at the Ibrox on a consistent basis. And Rangers are benefiting from it big time.
Therefore, we can conclude by saying that the Gers should offer a permanent contract to Sheyi Ojo once his loan deal ends.
