According to Spanish daily sports newspaper Estadio Deportivo (h/t The Pink Un), Real Betis are looking to cancel Victor Camarasa’s Crystal Palace loan in the New Year.
Victor Camarasa, 25, joined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan from Real Betis amidst a lot of fanfare, with an option of a permanent transfer for £11.5million.
He enjoyed an excellent 12-month spell with Cardiff City last season and was arguably the club’s best player, bagging five goals and four assists in an otherwise disappointing campaign for the Welsh side that ended in relegation.
However, the Spanish playmaker has played just five minutes of Premier League football for the Eagles, coming on as a late substitute in the 4-0 loss to Tottenham in September. He has been an unused substitute in four of Palace’s other 11 league games but his only real action came in the League Cup second round in August.
The report adds that Betis needed Camarasa to play 15 games to activate the prospect of a permanent move to Palace, but they will now end the loan in January to try and sell him subsequently. (h/t The Pink Un)
However, as per the Sun (h/t The Pink Un), Norwich City are ready to rescue Victor Camarasa from the Crystal Palace nightmare and are willing to pay the remainder of the loan fee before signing him permanently.
Norwich City have royally struggled in the Premier League and find themselves rock bottom in the table. Barring the astounding 3-2 victory over champions Manchester City at the Carrow Road, the Canaries have done very little to suggest they’ll avoid the drop.
Daniel Farke’s side have the second-worst defensive record in the division, so they must prioritise signing at least a couple of defenders in January.
They have struggled going forward as well, with just 11 goals scored in 12 games. Teemu Pukki has gone off the boil after a blistering start, while the likes of Emi Buendia, Marco Stiepermann and Todd Cantwell haven’t impressed much.
That’s why the signing of Victor Camarasa would make sense for the Norfolk club. The 25-year-old was a popular figure amongst the Cardiff supporters as he played really well, but in a limited Bluebirds side that was destined to get relegated.
Going by his last season’s experience, the Spaniard could make a real difference at Norwich by offering the cutting edge currently missing in Farke’s attack. Plus, Camarasa could potentially get Pukki firing again and help the Canaries climb the table.
Camarasa’s loan spell at Palace has been nothing short of a disaster. Norwich must swiftly act to sign the Spanish technician on loan in January as he could prove to be a catalyst in helping them stay in the top-flight.
