Norwich City opinion: Farke should make a move for Giorgos Masouras

Birmingham Live has reported that Norwich City are very interested in signing Olympiacos star Giorgos Masouras. The report further adds that the Canaries want the forward to bolster their team if they make it to the Premier League at the end of this season.

That, at the moment, looks more and more likely as the season comes to a close. With just eight games left for Norwich City, they have a four-point lead over second-placed Sheffield United, thanks to Leeds United’s recent slump.

The Whites have struggled over the last few months, losing their perch atop the Championship.

They held the spot for just over seven weeks before a loss to Norwich City saw Daniel Farke and his men leapfrog them. Since then, Marcelo Bielsa and his men have struggled to return to the top.

While Norwich City do look likely to return to the Premier League, nothing is set in stone. If they do manage to keep their cool and continue their recent run of form, then a return would be ensured.

Yet that is not something to be too happy about, as the Premier league is a completely different animal as compared to the Championship. It is fierce, very tough to handle, and incredibly physical, which is why the Canaries will need reinforcements next season.

Someone like Giorgos Masouras would be perfect given their situation. The 25-year-old is a strong and agile winger who is more than capable of playing as a centre-forward and as a winger on both flanks.

That combined with tenacity and awareness inside the box makes him very lethal as a forward. While his defensive contribution is less than ideal for a team like Norwich City, Masouras more than makes up for it with his attacking returns.

This season, he has managed 10 goals and 2 assists in 27 appearances for Olympiacos and Panionios. He joined Greek giants Olympiacos in the January window, signing a contract until 2022.

However, given the 25 year old’s power, pace and directness on the flanks, it is a move that the Canaries have to make.

Conclusion

Emiliano Buendia has hit a remarkable vein of form but the Argentine cannot do everything on his own next season. Onel Hearnandez has helped every now and then but barring that, Norwich City have next to no-one except youngster Todd Cantwell.

Someone like Giorgos Masouras will boost the team and more importantly, give them another outlet to attack from.
