Back in May, a report from the Chronicle had claimed that Newcastle United were interested in signing Toulouse star Ibrahim Sangare as a replacement for Mohamed Diame.
However, a deal didn’t materialise and the Magpies failed to replace Diame ahead of the new season.
Newcastle’s performances up until now have been ordinary. Steve Bruce’s side are 17th in the table having won one, drawn one and lost three, with four points on the board.
After the shock win over Tottenham, Bruce and co. have drawn with Watford and lost to Liverpool. These are early days but the Magpies are lacking quality in every department as such at the moment.
The forward department is an area where Bruce needs to splash money in January after seeing his team struggle for goals. Also, he must address the midfield which has lacked urgency and energy so far.
Isaac Hayden has been Newcastle’s standout performer, showing unbelievable industry and desire in every game.
Sean Longstaff and Jonjo Shelvey have blown hot and cold that has not allowed the Magpies to control the tempo of the game.
Bruce’s men have ceded possession cheaply in every game this season as they have lacked a presence in the middle of the park that can break up play as well as offer creativity.
Ibrahim Sangare, 21, could be that player for the Tyneside-based club. He enjoyed a good last season with Toulouse and has started the new Ligue 1 campaign well.
The 21-year-old is an accomplished ball winner and he is a composed passer as well. The Ivorian likes to sit deep, break up the opposition’s play and dictate the tempo of the game with his passing skills and crossing range.
The 21-year-old was one of the top tacklers in Ligue 1 last season as opponents found it extremely difficult to dribble past him from the middle of the park. Sangare uses his size to cover large areas of the pitch quickly as well as dominate his opponents in the air.

The 21-year-old isn’t just about breaking up play; he can drive the team forward with his burst of acceleration and power before making a smart pass to one of his teammates.
Sangare is very young and at the development stages of his career. He has all the raw tools to thrive in the Premier League, whilst being the perfect partner for Hayden in Newcastle’s midfield.
All in all, the Ivorian powerhouse would still prove a shrewd bit of business.
