Newcastle would work wonders by signing this 25-year-old Bundesliga hitman in the winter window

Why Newcastle United should move for Yussuf Poulsen in January

RB Leipzig have several great players in their team and Yussuf Poulsen has been one of their stars in recent years.

The 25-year-old is an excellent centre-forward with great aerial abilities and is extremely versatile too.

The Danish international is also one of the most hard-working players in the Bundesliga and has scored goals regularly for Leipzig.

The Dane is versatile enough to play as an attacking midfielder and has also been tried on the wings at Leipzig this season.

The 25-year-old is a target for Everton, however, Newcastle United have been interested in the forward for a while, according to the Express.

The Magpies signed Joelinton in the summer and the Brazilian has been decent so far, but they could do with someone like Poulsen joining too.

Newcastle need goals to survive

Newcastle have five points from their opening six games, and they are in a fight for Premier League survival.

The Magpies are struggling for goals and it could be a wise decision to go back to playing with two big target men and try to batter teams with crosses.

Poulsen also had his most prolific scoring season in the previous campaign where he racked up 15 Bundesliga goals from 27 starts and assisted three more.

Newcastle have had their problems with centre-forwards this season as Andy Carroll has struggled with a problem since rejoining his former club.

The Englishman, when fit, is almost unplayable, but Newcastle could do well with spending the cash on Poulsen.

The Magpies have some quality creative talents in Miguel Almiron, Christian Atsu and Allan Saint-Maximin, and Poulsen would thrive with the right delivery into the box.

It will be a big ask for Mike Ashley to spend big in January, but the lure of remaining in the Premier League should see them splashing the cash in the winter window.

Verdict

Poulsen is one of the best versatile attackers in the Bundesliga and he would make a great addition to most clubs in England.

Newcastle need more attacking threat in the final third, and it will be interesting to see where the Dane could end up next season.
