Man City’s attack would be ready to dominate Europe by signing this Spanish dynamo with €70m buyout clause

Why Mikel Oyarzabal to Man City would be an excellent deal

According to Football Espana, Manchester City have reignited their interest in Real Sociedad forward Mikel Oyarzabal. The Spain international has grown into one among the best attacking talents in the La Liga. He was previously linked with a move to City this summer but no deal happened.

Oyarzabal has already scored four goals and provided three assists in nine appearances this season. He has also kept his discipline in control since he is yet to be in the referee’s book.

Oyarzabal has maintained his form over the past two seasons, scoring 25 goals in the La Liga. He also set up teammates seven times in that period. With his impressive level of performances, he also earned his first cap for the Spanish national side in the win over Sweden in June, where he also found the back of the net.

In fact, Oyarzabal could be the perfect long-time replacement for Leroy Sane, whose future remains unknown at the Eithad Stadium. Even though Sane has one more year left on his contract with City, he was heavily linked with Bayern Munich before getting injured during the summer transfer window.

Oyarzabal could also replace Manchester City’s record goalscorer, Sergio Aguero. Even though Aguero is the current Premier League joint top-scorer with Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham, he is 31 and will be in his last year of contract with City next season.

Gabriel Jesus is most likely to take up Aguero’s place in the starting line-up but Oyarzabal can bring in some competition and be used outside the Premier League.

Currently under contract with Real Sociedad until 2024 with a release clause just short of €70million, Pep Guardiola must secure his signature during the winter to increase his bench strength.

Guardiola recently complained about the busy Premier League schedule during Christmas time and the inclusion of a quality forward on the bench would bring confidence among the players. Thus, signing Oyarzabal would be a splendid move.
