Why Michy Batshuayi Is The King Of Social Media

The king of social media, Michy Batshuayi, was at his usual best yet again and this time around, his victim was none other than an honest Diego Costa.

Chelsea visited Atletico Madrid’s new wonder, Wanda Metropolitano last night and their heroics earned them a top spot in their group C of the Champions League, courtesy to the last minute goal from Michy Batshuayi. The game started decently for the hosts and the Blues saw themselves lagging behind just five minutes before the stroke of half-time after a certain Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann gave the Spaniards a lead with a calm penalty.

However, a half-time team talk was all Chelsea needed and Conte’s instructions worked wonders for the Blues. 15 minutes into the second half, new signing Alvaro Morata equalized with yet another header. Eden Hazard had delivered a pin-point cross and what the ball only needed was a direction to end up into the back of the net which Morata delivered quite superbly.

As the game approached its final 10 minutes, Conte decided to throw Michy Batshuayi on the field and Morata has to make way for the Belgian. Referee added the usual extra minutes into the game and as soon as everyone believed the game would end up being a draw, Michy Batshuayi delivered the moment of magic.

New signing Tiemoue Bakayoko released Marcos Alonso with a slick pass and the Spaniard pushed the ball into the danger area. Batshuayi, who was at the right place at the right time, tapped the ball into the back of the net and all of Chelsea’s traveling supporters went into a frenzy.

Soon after the game, the Belgium international posted a photo on his Twitter account and added, “When the game needs a 94th-minute winner call me #Batsman”. And then added a team photo on his Instagram account, saying, “More seriously, I’m happy to score the winning goal but what a great game we had!!! Terrific team performance enjoyed it all”.

And then at last, did something that might have touched the wrong nerve of some of Chelsea’s supporters and at the same time, might become a reason of laughter for some. Michy uploaded a photo of himself alongside Fernando Torres and Diego Costa and captioned, “Great honour to meet one of the great strikers I used to watch when I was younger,” he wrote. “And no I’m not talking about Diego #ElNino #guesswhostolhisjerseytonight.”

Safe to say he might one day help Chelsea fans forget Diego Costa. Well played Michy!
