Why Manchester United should sign Ousmane Dembele in January
Manchester United looked really short in their attacking department last weekend against West Ham after losing Marcus Rashford to a groin injury in the second half, which forced them to play Jesse Lingard as a forward for the rest of the game.
United got rid of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez in the summer but there’s nothing to suggest that the two of them would’ve helped them make a comeback in the game against West Ham.
However, they should have lined up replacements since injuries are a part and parcel of the game and a club like Manchester United should be able to have the depth to deal with that.
It cost them the game against West Ham and it might have an effect on their season till January, as the winter transfer window will help the club make some purchases.
They’ve now been linked with a move for Barcelona and French star Ousmane Dembele, who has had a difficult time at the Nou Camp. He’s currently nursing an injury but has never gotten going since his big move in 2017/18.
United could just be the club that ends up reigniting his career as they need a little spark right now. The Red Devils still don’t have an out-and-out right-winger and are using Andreas Pereira in that position currently.
Dembele wouldn’t just help by filling up a position but he’s also a very creative player, which is something that United currently lack.
Paul Pogba has been tasked with all the creative burdens in the side and that makes him an easy target to mark and double down upon. Dembele can be frustrating at times but there’s no doubt that he’ll easily come into this United side as one of the best players.
- Why Man United should plot a January swoop for Erling Braut Haaland
- Why tying Lindelof down to a long-term deal is good business for Man United
- Why Hakim Ziyech would be a fantastic signing for Manchester United
Despite his inconsistencies, he still got 9 assists each in the last 2 seasons and is likely to continue in that manner, which would be a massive help to Manchester United.
His only season at Dortmund saw him provide 21 assists, which are outstanding numbers and if he can regain some of that form at United, they’ll be a scary outfit.
United need to go all out for this deal as there are many reasons why it makes sense for the player and the club.
