Man City would add a lot of fuel to their midfield by signing this 29-year-old Serie A star to stabilize their defence

Why Manchester City’s midfield would get a boost with Miralem Pjanic’s signing

It has been a weird season for Manchester City so far. The Cityzens are still playing exemplary attacking football but their defence has been undone several times.

They have already lost two games in the Premier League and drew against Tottenham too. Pep Guardiola’s men are eight points behind Liverpool already, and their defence has looked shaky in other games too.

The Cityzens have had some problems in the midfield too with Fernandinho playing in the defence due to injuries.

Rodri, the summer signing, is taking time to gel while Kevin de Bruyne has had some injury problems too.

City have had some issue in controlling games, and the presence of another holding midfielder could be the solution.

Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic is linked with Manchester City, and the Italian giants are trying to fend off this interest by handing him a new deal, according to Calciomercato (h/t Sky Sports).

However, City landing the Bosnian could solve a lot of minor issues at the club.

A metronome keeping the team ticking

The 29-year-old isn’t the quickest or most mobile player for Juventus, but his ability to pick out a pass from a deep-lying position is a huge bonus for the Italians.

Pjanic is also great at shooting from distance and can provide Manchester City with an additional dimension.

However, his best quality is keeping hold of the ball and dictating the play. Fernandinho is capable of doing that, but Pjanic is the better player in this aspect.

The 29-year-old can control the tempo of games for City, which would give them a different dimension while going forward.

Rather than going gun-ho from the first-team, they can control games more with the help of the Bosnian.

Of course, it is easy to make suggestions now given that they are struggling a bit, however, Pjanic could fit into any top side in the world.

Fernandinho also seems set to play more games in the defence in the coming years and having another experienced midfielder in the side won’t hurt.

City are capable of blowing all teams away with their attacking play, but there are days when some guile and control is needed.

Pjanic provides that to Guardiola, and he would be a smart signing for the Cityzens as they aim to continue their domination of English football.
