Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is plotting a transfer deal for Aston Villa star Jack Grealish, which may frustrate rivals Manchester United, according to the Express.
City look set to lose the Premier League title to Liverpool, who are yet to lose a league game this season. Injuries to Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte have damaged City’s title defence while the failure to sign a centre-back last summer has been particularly harmful.
A centre-back should be a priority but with David Silva’s tenure drawing to a close, it makes sense for Manchester City to have set their sights on Aston Villa star Jack Grealish. With six strikes and five assists, the 24-year-old has directly contributed to more goals than any other English midfielder in the top-flight this season.
Grealish has been the stand-out performer for Villa this season, having played an instrumental role in their return to the Premier League the last term.
The 24-year-old, who still has more than three years left to run on his contract at Villa Park, has been Aston Villa’s best player for the last two years. And City have now joined the race for the Englishman.
Having played as a No. 10 or a left-winger in his early days, Jack Grealish has established himself as a No. 8 in the heart of Villa’s midfield, making driving runs to break lines and carrying his team up the pitch.
Strong, creative and fantastic on the ball, Grealish is already among the best midfielders in the Premier League. He is also capable of scoring stunners from time to time. His wonder strike against Manchester United is a fine example.
Villa are struggling in the drop zone and if they are relegated, it would be extremely difficult for them to retain the services of Grealish.
City have been vulnerable in the midfield this season and Jack Grealish perfectly fits the bill. His ability on the ball is fantastic and with only Phil Foden as Silva’s back-up, the Manchester outfit must add another top midfielder to their squad.
And Grealish has already proven that he can perform at the top level, thus making him a fantastic signing for Manchester City.
