Norwich City signing this 25-goal Championship ace would help retain top-flight status

Why Lyle Taylor to Norwich City would be a good move

According to TEAMtalk (h/t Nottinghamshire Live), Norwich City are interested in Charlton Athletic striker Lyle Taylor.

A product of Millwall’s youth academy, Taylor has played for several English teams like Bournemouth, Sheffield United and Scunthorpe United before joining Charlton Athletic in 2018. He has been in fine form since Charlton returned to the Championship.

He scored 25 goals in 45 appearances last season and helped the Addicks get promoted to the Championship for this season. He started this season well before he hurt his knee and was out of action from the end of August. However, Taylor made his return against Middlesbrough.

He has already scored 5 times this season and as a result of his goalscoring abilities, Taylor has attracted interest from a trio of Premier League teams, including the Canaries.

Daniel Farke’s men are currently struggling to move away from the relegation zone, despite fighting well against Manchester City and Arsenal in the league.

Teemu Pukki has been the only player in their attacking ranks to put up an encouraging performance. Other strikers in the team – Josip Drmic and Dennis Srbeny – have failed to be a proper back up for the Finland international.

In total, the Canaries have scored just 18 goals so far, which is nearly half of what they have conceded.

In this regard, Lyle Taylor would be a proper addition to their squad, who can come on from the bench and bang in goals for them, given his goalscoring prowess in the lower leagues in the last few seasons.

The 29-year-old has a lot of experience in English football and it would be the right time for him to move to the Premier League and if he continues to score, he would be able to prove a point.

His manager, Lee Bowyer had praised him for his fighting spirit and also acknowledged his competitiveness on the pitch, according to a report. With these qualities, Taylor can be the cutting edge that Norwich City have lacked so far.

The Montserrat international has registered 2.1 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per game in the Championship this season, according to Whoscored. He has made successful passes at 66.4% accuracy, which can be justified as he plays mostly as a striker.

With Norwich City, Taylor can make a name for himself in the Premier League. His ability to play anywhere along the front line would be an added bonus for Farke, who can fit him into the game according to the situation.

Norwich City might have their task cut out to acquire his services, as it is reported that Charlton are hoping to convince Taylor to stay.

But with the chance of playing in the Premier League, the Canaries must lure Lyle Taylor to Carrow Road as early as January.
