Forget Jesus – This hotshot Bundesliga goal machine would be a perfect Aguero replacement at Man City

Manchester City Opinion: Would Jovic be the perfect man to replace Aguero?

Since his arrival from Atletico Madrid, Sergio Aguero has been nothing short of perfect for Manchester City. He’s averaged 20 goals a season, won the Premier League’s Golden Boot once, led the Cityzens to not one, but two league titles and more so, he is their record goal-scorer of all time.

All this for a transfer fee of around £38million and this includes the moment that won them their first Premier League title.

Yet, while Gabriel Jesus can be the man to replace the prolific Argentine, the former Palmeiras striker has struggled with more than his share of injury issues.

This is probably why the Daily Mail has reported that Manchester City have joined the race for Eintracht Frankfurt star Luka Jovic, with the 21-year-old having the season of his life.

Incredible and unstoppable at the moment, the on-loan Benfica star has netted 21 goals this season in just 31 appearances, with 15 in the Bundesliga alone.

What makes his breakout season even more spectacular is the fact that only Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe have scored more league goals that the Eintracht Frankfurt forward so far and Jovic is also the Bundesliga top-scorer.

Such has been his rise, that the likes of Barcelona (Sun), Real Madrid (Sun), and Chelsea (Sun) have started proceedings to convince the striker to join them. But for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola, few players would come as close to Jovic would to replacing Kun Aguero.

Like the Argentine, the youngster has also been used as a false nine this season by Eintracht Frankfurt boss Adi Hutter and like Aguero, Jovic has flourished in that position.

While most clubs would need his goal-scoring abilities, what Manchester City need is someone capable of play as a complete striker. Someone who can score goals, create chances and add creativity in the final third, three things that perfectly describe Luka Jovic.

His work rate both on and off the ball is second to none, along with his attacking instinct.

However, the reigning Premier League champions will have to make a move fast, with the Daily Mail (h/t Diario Sport) revealing that Barcelona have already agreed to personal terms.

This shouldn’t be a big problem for Manchester City and if there is one manager who can beat his former side, it’s Pep Guardiola. That plus the fact that the club’s board has a never-ending transfer budget (Manchester Evening News), should give them an edge.
