Liverpool’s goalkeeping future would be in safe hands if they sign this prodigious Polish ace

Why Liverpool should sign Fabian Mrozek as one for the future

According to claims from Polish source  Sportowe Fakty, Liverpool are currently weighing up a move for 15-year-old Polish goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek after the teenager impressed the reigning European champions on trial.

The same report claims that Liverpool are planning to send their officials to Poland next week to enter into negotiations with the player’s family, given that Mrozek is still below the age of 16, which is the minimum age limit for international transfers to go through.

However, it has been claimed that Mrozek will probably stay on at Polish outfit SMS Junior Wroclaw for another year until his 16th birthday before joining Liverpool’s youth ranks.

If the Reds do manage to get a deal over the line for Fabian Mrozek, he would be the third Polish goalkeeper at Melwood, joining the likes of Kamil Grabara and Jakub Ojrzynski in the academy.

Ojrzynski’s rapid rise has seen him feature for the U-23 side at the tender age of 16, while 20-year-old Grabara is currently on loan at Huddersfield Town in the Championship.

Indeed, both the shot-stoppers have earned rave reviews for their progress and that has apparently prompted Liverpool to scour Poland for more emerging prospects, with Mrozek being the latest to hit their radar.

Yet to play professional football at any level, the 15-year-old is very much in the rudimentary stages of his formative years as a footballer but he is already held in high regard by the youth coaches at Wroclaw.

Mrozek has also earned international recognition for Poland at the U-16 level, something which clearly underpins the fact that he is one of the best in his position in his age group.

Mrozek is still very much a kid but his talent and potential have caught the eye of Liverpool, who apparently believe the Polish prodigy has what it takes to develop into a top-quality professional in the years to come.

Realistically, it is hard to speculate on how far Mrozek could possibly go later in his career, given that he is only 15 but Liverpool have every reason to look at him as one for the future.

The Pole will need to go through several stages in his development curve at Anfield even if a move does materialize. He would probably start training with the U-16s and U-18s and then it will be up to him to progress through to the U-23 development side and eventually stake a claim for a place in the club’s loan army before coming in with a real shout for a first-team spot.

Besides spending millions of pounds to build a world-class first-team, Liverpool have also shown the inclination to supplement their academy ranks with some top-quality emerging prospects from across the globe in recent years.

Promising starlets like Rafael Camacho and Bobby Duncan parted ways with the Reds earlier in the summer but they brought in Harvey Elliott from Fulham and Sep van den Berg from PEC Zwolle to keep up the desired level of competition for places in the youth ranks.

The rise of Trent Alexander-Arnold to one of the best right-backs in the Premier League under Jurgen Klopp clearly outlines the presence of a clear pathway from the youth ranks to the senior side at Anfield and the fans might get to see Fabian Mrozek treading the same path in the next four to five years.

All in all, Liverpool should not hesitate to snap up the 15-year-old as soon as possible, given that they could have a gem on their hands in the future if he goes on to fulfil his promise.
