Why Liverpool should secure Fabinho’s future at Anfield
According to The Telegraph, Liverpool’s Fabinho is already being considered for a contract extension despite arriving at Anfield only last season.
The Brazilian midfielder, who won the Champions League in his debut season with the Reds, has a contract that would keep him at the club until 2023.
He played a decisive role last year in Liverpool’s Champions League-winning campaign, as they went on to clinch their sixth European title.

The defensive midfielder has continued his good form from last season and has developed into one of the key players for the Reds under manager Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp’s Liverpool are currently in exceptional form, as they sit atop the Premier League table ahead of second-placed Leicester City.
Fabinho has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet, having featured in nearly all their league games so far.
To add to his credentials, the holding midfielder scored a superb long-range shot from outside the box in the blockbuster clash against defending champions Manchester City recently.

The Reds won the game 3-1 and Fabinho played a crucial role by scoring the opener. Since arriving from AS Monaco last season, Fabinho has played 58 matches for Liverpool and has two goals and four assists to his name.
Before making his £39million switch to Anfield, the Brazilian had won the French top-division title with Monaco back in 2016-17.
The same year, Monaco qualified for the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2004. However, they ultimately lost to Italian club Juventus 4-1 on aggregate.

Although he is a newcomer at Liverpool when compared to the likes of Jordan Henderson, Mohamed Salah and many others, Fabinho has adapted to life at Anfield quite easily.
During his time with the French outfit, he played a whopping 233 matches, scoring 31 goals and assisting 21 times.
Moreover, the Reds have never lost a Premier League game when Fabinho has started for them, according to Daily Mail.
While that may be a little too much to consider, it provides all the more reasons for Liverpool to hold on to their key midfield dynamo.

With an average of 3.3 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per match, Fabinho’s presence in the middle of the park is capable of working wonders for the Merseysiders. (Source: Whoscored).
Verdict
All said done, it is quite evident that Fabinho is the engine that keeps the midfield functioning as per Klopp’s plans.
Moreover, he has proven his mettle by becoming a regular under Klopp, which further signifies his importance within the squad.
