Liverpool opinion: Reds in for Luka Jovic – a good move by Klopp?

What more can Jurgen Klopp do to effectively make his Liverpool side like Manchester City’s albeit slightly perfect side. Pep Guardiola has created what can be called as ‘the perfect’ Manchester City side, with depth, world-class first teamers and a reliable back-line.

While the last part has looked a little shaky of late, the Cityzens are still the favourites to the title. Yet this season, Liverpool have given them one big fight.

So the question for Klopp to answer next summer is if the Reds do not win the title, where does he have to add new names? Make no mistake, Liverpool need a few new additions and they have to be the right ones.

Back-up full-backs, maybe another centre-back and another striker to give Roberto Firmino some competition, which is where Luka Jovic comes into play. The Mirror has reported that Liverpool are still among the top candidates to sign the Serbian striker who has had a sensational season.

In what has been Jovic’s breakout season, the 21-year-old has managed to score and create 32 goals. He is also the Bundesliga’s second top scorer, behind only the legendary and record-breaking Robert Lewandowski.

However, unlike the Bayern Munich man, Jovic has a long career ahead of him and the Guardian has reported it could be at Barcelona. However, nothing has been confirmed by either side, barring the fact that Eintracht Frankfurt are making his loan move permanent.

This gives Liverpool a small chance in the race and it’s one they really need to take, especially since players like Luka Jovic are not always available. The Reds have heavily depended on their impeccably brilliant trio to score the goals and they have managed that.

So far this season, both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have 19 and 18 goals respectively. Firmino, however, has struggled and that has affected Liverpool’s performances. The Brazilian is the focal point of their attack and watching him struggle has caused a few problems.

That is where Jovic can step in and make the impact, especially since the two are eerily similar. Under Frankfurt manager Adi Hutter, the 21-year-old has often been used as a false nine. Like Firmino, Jovic has flourished in that position despite what people think about him.

Many consider him to be a great penalty box striker, which he is. However, the 21-year-old is also a complete striker or is on his way to becoming a complete striker. He’s someone who can score goals consistently, create chances and take the creative burden off the midfielders.

Conclusion

Luka Jovic would be a great option for Liverpool. This is a move that the Reds should make if they have a chance. Arguably one of the strikers for the future, Jovic has the ability to lead them into a future filled with trophies and glory.
