Why Liverpool should land Man United a real blow by signing this £70m World Cup winner

Why Liverpool should beat Man United to the signing of Lucas Hernandez

Liverpool made a convincing return to the Premier League this weekend after failing to win any of the 4 preceding games in all competitions. Jurgen Klopp’s men have otherwise made an inspirational start to their season and look set to challenge for the title this time around.

Klopp did bring in a few top stars to the club in the summer and Liverpool have since proven to be a force to reckon with. The Reds have also been defensively resilient so far, conceding a league-low 3 goals in their opening 9 games of the campaign.

However, the Merseyside outfit could do with at least one more defender in the squad given that Nathaniel Clyne and Alberto Moreno are out of favour at the club.

According to the Metro, Manchester United have shown a keen interest in signing Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez. But the French defender has a £70million buyout clause, which is good enough to put off a number of suitors. However, the Red Devils might not be fazed by such an amount given their financial prowess over the recent years.

Liverpool have also proven to a big spending side over the last two years as well and are very much capable of going head to head against their arch-rivals. Klopp could certainly use a man like Lucas Hernandez in his squad.

The French World Cup winner has been making a name for himself after rising to prominence over the last two years. He has been sensational for both club and country, portraying a wide variety of qualities that has surely made him one of the hottest prospects in Europe. The 22-year-old is defensively diligent and rarely puts in a wrong foot.

A left-back by trade, Hernandez is equally good at playing in central defence. Liverpool could do with a defender like Hernandez to partner Virgil Van Dijk at the back. The Dutchman came in and completely transformed the Reds’ backline and they are now one of the hardest team to breach.

The arrival of Lucas Hernandez will further bolster Klopp’s backline and will also provide the manager with a number of healthy selection options at the back. The Frenchman will also provide a lot of chances going forward due to his ability to play out from the back.

The acquisition of Hernandez will definitely improve Liverpool’s chances of going on and winning the title this season. Jurgen Klopp must definitely make the move before the Red Devils swoop in. There’s a nervy atmosphere around Old Trafford at the moment and the prospect of working with Klopp will surely be more appealing.
