According to Liverpool Echo, the Reds will be considering the future of youngsters Harry Wilson and Marko Grujic in the summer window. Seeing the prospect and depth in the squad, let’s have a look at whether Liverpool should sell them or keep them at Anfield.
Harry Wilson is 22 years old and is on loan this season. He was on loan at Championship clubs earlier, but the Wales international has been proving his worth in the Premier League with Bournemouth this season.
Wilson has found the back of the net three times in eight appearances for the Cherries. After missing Bournemouth’s Premier League opener against Sheffield United, the Reds youngster has started every match on the right-wing. Off the three, Wilson also scored a stunning free-kick against Liverpool’s title rivals Manchester City.
Wilson has been impressive in his loan spells as he scored 16 goals and assisted another four in the 43 appearances for Derby County last season, where current Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was the manager. He also scored a goal and assisted another in the three Carabao Cup appearances during his time there.
Meanwhile, Grujic is just 23 years old and has represented the Reds in two Premier League seasons. He made three appearances in the 2017-18 season while five appearances in 2016-17. Liverpool bought the Serbian midfielder from Red Star Belgrade in 2016.
Grujic is in his second season on loan with Bundesliga club Hertha BSC. He has already scored two goals in eight league appearances, while he found the back of the net five times and assisted once in 22 games. His stats are on a constant rise as he scored just once in 13 matches while playing for Cardiff in the 2017-18 Championship season.
Mohamed Salah will be the man to make his way out if Wilson is to play. Salah missed just his second Premier League game in 52 possible clashes, which shows the talisman’s consistency.
However, Salah has said he will be considering his future at the end of the season and may leave the Reds. If this happens, Wilson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would be the perfect duo to compete for the place.
Grujic, on the other hand, will be a much-needed player for Klopp as James Milner and Adam Lallana getting old. The Reds may struggle for depth in the midfield next season.
