Former England forward Emile Heskey told the Daily Star that Borussia Dortmund and England star Jadon Sancho would be a ‘fantastic’ signing for Liverpool.
Jadon Sancho, 19, has developed into one of the stars of European football since joining Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City two years ago. He enjoyed a fantastic 2018/19 campaign in the Bundesliga, bagging 12 goals and 17 assists in 34 appearances.
The England international has hit the ground running in the new campaign as well, netting 4 goals and supplying 7 assists in 14 games across all competitions.
Sancho’s top form for Dortmund has seen Heskey talk about him, insisting that the teenage sensation would be a great signing for his former club, Liverpool. Hence, should Liverpool consider Heskey’s words and make a move for Sancho in the summer of 2020?
Liverpool’s front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have done damage to so many teams in the Premier League as well as in Europe. They are simply magnificent and one can be certain that the defenders don’t want to face them.
Over the two seasons that the Liverpool trio have been together, they have bagged over 160 goals between them. And the combination of Mane, Firmino and Salah has helped the Reds play free-flowing, exciting football that has made them so unplayable in recent seasons.
When the trio clicks, they are impossible to handle and a delight to behold. However, Liverpool don’t have reliable back-ups to their fiery front three and if they are to become a dominant force, they’ll need to spend big again. Jadon Sancho, in that regard, might solve that problem.
Sancho is known for his technique, dribbling skills, movement, direct approach as well as ability to skip past defenders in a blink of an eye and finish off chances. The 19-year-old is extremely dangerous in 1v1 situations and has caught the eye with lovely close control, vision and proficiency in creating chances from open play.
Below is the video which shows Sancho’s style of play and the qualities he could bring to Anfield.
There are obvious signs that the England international could make a big impact under the tutelage of Klopp, who is a master when it comes to nurturing talented players into world-beaters.
With the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi not doing enough to convince Klopp of their talent and Rhian Brewster yet to nail down a significant role, the door is open for someone like Sancho to come in and establish himself.
Therefore, the Reds must consider Heskey’s opinion and sign the teenage sensation if they are to sustain their dominance in English football and rekindle their glory days.
