Why Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Is Perfect For Liverpool

Arsene Wenger will have to work really hard this summer to improve on the current Arsenal squad that is slowly breaking up. The Chilean mastermind Alexis Sanchez has not signed a contract extension with the club, while a couple of other players are also linked with an exit. One player who might be closer than ever to leaving the Emirates is versatile Englishman, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The 23-year old has been at the Emirates since 2011, making 129 league appearances already but he has not been able to establish himself as a first-team regular in any of those years under Arsene Wenger and is now frustrated and wants to quit. Reports suggest that the £17.5million rated attacker is ready to reject contract talks with the London club and is ready to quit the club this summer.

Liverpool’s hunt for attacking talent is well known now and why shouldn’t they target one of the most talented Englishmen around? Ox would fit in at Liverpool and perfectly so. Let’s have a look at why Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Liverpool are perfect for each other.

A product of the Southampton academy, Oxlade-Chamberlain is one of the most versatile players available in England at the moment. Last season, the 23-year old was used as a genuine winger, a part of the two man midfield and also as a wing-back, three positions that require completely different skill sets. But Chamberlain managed to excel in all the positions and showed that he is ready to take the big step.

However, having fallen out of the top-4, Wenger will surely make some stellar signings this summer, pushing Ox further down the pecking order. So leaving Arsenal is probably the right decision for the player.

The other big clubs in England have a well-settled squad and Liverpool are the ones who need a player like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. He is known for his versatility and that is something Jurgen Klopp would do well with. Ox can cover a number of positions in the first team and the English giants will benefit by having him in their team next season.

Also, Sadio Mane is currently the only winger in the side, though they might yet add Salah to their ranks. Nathaniel Clyne is the only senior right-back in the squad while Liverpool completely lack a midfielder with the qualities that Ox has.

Klopp is building something special at Anfield and Oxlade-Chamberlain has a chance to be a part of it. He may yet not be able to start regularly, but it will be a fresh start for him and if he can impress Klopp, there is now way he will stay out of the starting XI for too long.
