Why Liverpool can win the Premier League next season by signing £62m shot-stopper

Why Liverpool can win the Premier League next season with Alisson Becker

Liverpool have been harbouring an interest in AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker for quite some time now and if latest reports are to be believed, the Reds will be making a strong push to land him in the upcoming summer window, with Roma rating him at £62m.

Liverpool have been notorious for a sensational attack this season but they have been let down on several occasions due to their lacklustre defending. Their defenders, as well as goalkeepers, have not endured the best of campaigns this term and although the back line has improved quite a bit, they are still in need of a quality goalkeeper.

There is not much they can do this season but beyond this, they need a strong goalkeeper in the squad and Becker seems like a truly brilliant option. He has been an integral part of their first team throughout the season so far and it comes as no surprise that the Reds are considering a move for him.

The Brazilian was not Roma’s first-choice last season due to the presence of Wojciech Szczesny but ever since he moved to Juventus, Becker has played a starring role for Roma and excelled at it.

Alisson An Upgrade On Liverpool’s Keepers

He not only boasts of enough experience but is also blessed with lightning-fast reflexes. The Roma man combines his excellent shot-stopping abilities with his mature understanding of the game to deliver some truly brilliant performances.

In fact, Becker is quite tough to beat when it comes to one-on-one situations and that should be something that appeals to Jurgen Klopp. Since his defenders often press up high, the back gets exposed quite often and that can be a tricky situation during counter-attacks.

Both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have failed to deliver convincing performances on a consistent basis this season, thus bringing up the need for a new goalkeeper in the first place. Both of them have been a bit inefficient in the nets and that has cost Liverpool so many points.

In fact, given the way they have been playing, they could have easily challenged Manchester City for the title. It was only due to their leaky defence that they dropped points on several occasions. It also worth noting that they are the only top-six team to have beaten the high-flying champions-elect.

Hence, signing Becker will be immensely important for Liverpool since he could be the missing piece that helps them lift a trophy next season.

They have a strong attack, their midfield will be further strengthened when Naby Keita joins over the summer and with Virgil Van Dijk in the mix, their defence can improve. If they bring in Becker over the summer, there is no doubt that the Reds can make a strong contention for the Premier League trophy.
