Why Liverpool Can Stay Calm About Mo Salah Despite Real Madrid Rumours

It is not uncommon to see a goalscorer’s value skyrocket in inflated times like these and although Mohamed Salah arrived for a relatively low amount at Anfield last summer, he has gone on to become the hottest prospect of the upcoming transfer window.

As per a recent report from The Sun, European bigwigs Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are all keen on acquiring the prolific Egyptian winger’s services by the end of this season.

Salah has undoubtedly been a standout performer in the Premier League this term. Although he has played as a winger, the Egyptian has managed to stand strong and challenge Harry Kane for the Golden Boot.

In fact, he has overtaken the Tottenham superstar and has netted 28 goals in the domestic league whereas Kane has only 24 to his name for now. It is astounding for a player like him to notch up so many goals and he has been a key performer for the Reds throughout the season.

But for such a prolific performer to just leave the club after spending merely one season seems a tad bit odd. For a player as committed and dedicated as Salah, these rumours look quite baseless. Yes, a hefty price tag can lure even the most loyal players but Salah, who currently earns £120,000-a-week, might prefer to stay back at Anfield for at least another season or two before making any sort of decision about his long-term future.

Furthermore, the partnership he has established with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino has been absolutely incredible and Jurgen Klopp is probably the last person to even think of letting Salah leave – irrespective of how much money is on the table. Players like the Egyptian are irreplaceable and the Merseysiders are lucky to have found somebody as dependable yet lethal as him.

Although Salah was criticised to a certain extent for his lack of finishing skills in the earlier stages of the season, he seems to have silenced all his critics by refining and improving his displays to a point where nobody can point a finger at him.

However, when it comes to his future, Liverpool can stay assured at least for the time being. Salah has worked quite hard to get the club to where they are right now. He might not be single-handedly responsible but he has played a pivotal role and the player will definitely think twice before making a rash decision to leave the club so soon. Hence, the Reds can relax for now but it could only be a matter of time.
