Leicester City’s Ahmed Musa Could Be A Great Fit To The Current Hull City Line-up In The Championship And Here’s Why

Leicester City forward Ahmed Musa looks to be a forgotten star. However, he decided to stay and fight for his place at the club. Two months after the close of the transfer window, the Nigerian international must be wondering why he made the decision.

Musa, who cost Leicester a then-club-record £16m from CSKA Moscow in 2016, has featured just once in all competitions this season which came in the 4-1 EFL Cup win at Sheffield United in late August. Justifiably, the forward is now open to the idea of kick-starting his career away from Leicester City with championship side Hull City understood to be interested in signing him.

Hull City’s interest in Musa mainly stems from their manager, Leonid Slutsky, who is like a father figure for the Nigerian. In 2012, Slutsky signed Musa from VVV-Venlo while he was in charge of Russian giants CSKA Moscow. Musa flourished under the watchful eyes of Slutsky as the forward scored 54 goals in 5 seasons at Russia before moving to Premier League.

At Leicester, Musa featured in 21 league games in his debut season in England, scoring just 4 times. Being on the periphery at King Power, the 25-year-old made a bold move to open a petrol pump in Kano, Nigeria in October; one that sets him apart from his peers. It was not the first real investment done by Musa as he already owns a sports complex in Kano and a mini shopping mall he bought a couple of years ago.

That’s how life is panning out at the moment for Musa, who is already making future plans for his retirement life. Despite being nowhere near to new Foxes manager Claude Puel’s plans, Musa is living his life with a broad smile.

However, he could be the man to spark Hull City to a mid-table finish. Slutsky’s side currently sits 20th in the Championship, the table being a depressing sight for supporters who were watching their side play Premier League football last season.

Musa would provide some much-needed quality in the Hull attack which has been sorely lacking this season. The Tigers would be smart to consider a move for a player who tore opposition defences to shreds during his time at CSKA Moscow, only to slip off the radar almost entirely after joining the Foxes.

The Nigerian’s electric pace and finishing could cause Championship defences a lot of headaches if Hull could somehow tempt him to spend the rest of the season at KC stadium. Though Musa simply hasn’t clicked at Leicester, there’s a reason the 2016 Premier League champions paid such a hefty fee for his signature.

In fact, Musa could provide a real boost to Slutsky’s stuttering Hull, alongside the returning Evandro. The pace of Musa and Evandro’s creativity could work well in tandem to give the Hull fans a real lift they badly need.

Despite claiming to be uninterested in dropping down to the Championship to join Hull, Musa should rethink his decision. The Nigeria international needs a move away from King Power to secure regular playing time irrespective of the tier.

Musa still has until the end of this year to make a choice to either go out on loan to other clubs in the Championship in January or stay in the Premier League and fight for his place. It is all left to him now.
